District Technology Advisory Committee is looking for new members
Posted 4/24/19

The Technology Advisory Committee is a Board-appointed committee that provides advice to the Board and district staff about technology issues.  We also look at technology issues we think are important to FUSD.  We have both parents and staff on the committee.  Joseph Siam, FUSD CTO, also sits on the committee.  We are looking for more parent members.

The district technology advisory committee reviews many of the technology projects that take place in the district.  This year, we have discussed Measure E bond projects such as the new VOIP system, the Board policy for technology use by students, a new document management system, replacing school websites on SchoolWires with School Loop, and migrating email from outlook to gmail.  In previous years, we have evaluated online MAZE days for elementary schools, and electronic visitor sign-in system, school websites, projectors for classrooms, the district WAN upgrade, transportation planning software, a student ID card upgrade, school phone and public address systems, a long-term district technology plan, pilot programs at individual schools, and discussed plans for buying laptops/Chromebooks for classrooms and for staff.

We meet once a month during the school year on the first Monday evening of most months.  Members serve a two-year term.  If you are interested, please contact Joseph Siam at for an application.  If you applied before, please let him know that too.  He may have your previous application.  The application is broad because we explore issues across the spectrum, but we do not expect members to be knowledgeable in all areas.  And every member brings valuable personal experience to the table.

The deadline is April 30.
